Now people enrolled at Dunbarton have been urged to contact the school as soon as possible.

"Anyone who has registered or called for tuition registration for the spring term should call us immediately,'' said school director Ms Karol Sue Reddington.

Four people's tuition fees -- including cash and cheques -- were also stolen.

The thief struck in the early hours yesterday at Ms Reddington's apartment in Cavendish Heights.

"It's a real rape. It feels horrible,'' said Ms Reddington of the theft.

Ms Reddington said she had been sleeping with the light on when the intruder slipped into her bedroom some time between 2 a.m. and 5.30 a.m.

"I had left a sliding door ajar for ventilation. The thief must have gone in after getting on to the first balcony.'' The crook made off with a big black cowhide briefcase, containing business files and other materials.

"Some personal effects were also taken. Three of my own cheques were stolen, although I don't think it's possible to cash them,'' said Ms Reddington.

She added: "I discovered the theft this morning when I got up. The thief didn't disturb anything.

"Everything was in full view along with papers. It was clear someone had been watching the apartment.

"The thief used a towel to eliminate finger prints, and investigators found a jacket dropped underneath balcony.'' Ms Reddington said it was the second time in two and a half months her apartment had been burgled.

The last time stereo equipment was stolen from her room.

"I put special locks on doors and windows,'' she said.
