Renaissance Re Holdings comfortable with estimates
Bermuda-based catastrophe reinsurer RenaissanceRe Holdings said on Tuesday - in advance of the Bermuda Angle conference, in which it is participating - that it expects to report third-quarter operating earnings at 75 cents to $1.25 per share. Full year 2001 operating earnings are estimated to be in the range of $6.50 to $7 per share.
RenRe added it is currently comfortable with 2002 projected earnings estimates of $9.50 to $10 per share - assuming normal loss activity and firming reinsurance market conditions.
Reuters News, in reference to RenRe's earning estimates, reported that Wall Street analysts polled by research firm Thomson Financial/First Call expected third-quarter earnings of $1.24 a share, 2001 earnings of $6.70 and 2002 earnings of $8.09 per share.
RenRe puts its losses related to the September 11 attacks, at $50million - its gross loss is estimated at $150million.
