Charles Hollis of Renaissance Reinsurance and Alexander Ming of The Bank of Butterfield recently made personal donations to the group, now only $500 short of its goal.

Girl Guide leader Tamika Black approached the two Bermudian businessmen in their capacity as United Bermuda Party representatives for Devonshire North.

"When Tamika approached us for help, we decided to do more than have our UBP Branch provide the financial assistance they asked for,'' Mr. Hollis and Mr.

Ming said in a joint statement.

"We believe that Girl Guides such as the Newlands group make fine ambassadors for Bermuda. It is essential that they have the opportunity to meet their sister Girl Guides from around the world.'' "We are encouraging others in the community to support this effort so the final budget can be realised in time for their departure on 29 July. We are also providing these Girl Guides with a Bermuda Flag, pins and video tapes of the Bermuda Colours that they can share with their counterparts.'' Anyone wishing to financially assist the Girl Guides should contact The Bank of Bermuda. The account is under the name of First Newlands Girls.
