Trio accused of barbershop attack back in court
Three men who were allegedly involved in an attack at a Flatts barbershop appeared together in Magistrates' Court yesterday.
Previously, Marico Bassett, 18, Rasheed Muhammad, 17 and Earl Ingemann, 20, appeared separately to be charged with causing grievous bodily harm to Rashid Ebbin and possession of offensive weapons, namely a baseball bat, a knife, a machete and mace.
None of the men have been required to enter a plea because the charges are indictable and will be heard by a Supreme Court jury.
Ingemann alone faces three charges stemming from an incident on July 25 — of causing grievous bodily harm to Mr. Ebbin, possessing a knife taped to a three-inch pole in public and uttering threatening words.
Yesterday a court date was set to review the files and Crown counsel Nicole R. Smith said the next time they were in court the three cases would be combined.
Ingemann was remanded in custody yesterday, while Bassett was bailed for $10,000 with one surety and he must report to the Hamilton Police Station between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. and Muhammad was given bail.
All three will appear in Magistrates' Court on December 23.
