Paulo Wanchope against Everton this weekend.

Goater played in last weekend's clash with Chelsea which City lost 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.

The Bermudian international played the whole game and missed an opportunity to salvage a point towards the end.

Wanchope, however, was removed at half-time for what boss Joe Royle said was a tactical reason.

Rumours of a rift between the gangly Costa Rican and the manager have been played down by the club, and Royle hopes the pairing of Wanchope and Goater will click against the Toffees.

"I will be working around the same squad as last week against Chelsea,'' said the boss. "We will continue with our front pairing and Paulo and Shaun will both play up front.'' Meanwhile, fellow Bermudian, Kyle Lightbourne appears to be out of favour with Stoke City manager, Gudjon Thordarson.

The striker played in the 8-0 FA Cup humiliation at the hands of Liverpool last week but didn't figure in last weekend's league encounter with Luton, which the Potters lost.

A club spokeswoman said earlier this week that she fully expected him to be in the squad for the LDV Vans Trophy match against Scarborough on Wednesday night. However, again Lightbourne wan missing from the team, not even earning a place on the bench.
