Zebras hit back to grab vital point
In a match Zebras’ coach Kyle Lightbourne claims his side should have easily won, the home team missed a first-half penalty and then came from two goals down to earn a vital point that keeps them ahead of neighbouring Paget in the battle against relegation.
Dennis Russell received two bites at the cherry to put Zebras ahead. But the striker’s spot kick was saved by Town ‘keeper Cymande Davis and the rebound came back off the bar.
Town then showed Zebras how to capitalise around goal when Jared Peniston side-footed Carlos Smith’s cross in at the back post and then former Zebra McLee Smith made no mistake from close range when a loose ball rolled directly into his path to send Hornets two goals clear early in the second half.
Zebras, however, finally hit back through college student Jahnai Raynor who wriggled his way past two defenders and received a generous bounce in the box before rifling home.
Swan then turned back the clock with a brilliant display of finishing to draw the teams level.
After getting the ball under control and spotting the ‘keeper standing slightly of his line, the 45-year-old veteran volleyed home from beyond the 18-yard box to earn Zebras a precious point.
