`B' division title as they scored a dramatic 4-3 win over Bluebirds at the

And in the `A' division, Canaries moved in on the championship by defeating rivals Cardinals 1-0.

In the game of the weekend Canaries B came out blazing when Georgie Barbosa scored from a rebound after just five minutes following a shot from Sandra McDougall. Emma Garon notched Canaries' second when she picked up her own rebound after 20 minutes, but then Bluebirds replied with two goals in less than a minute.

First Sarah Moltby scored with the last hit of the first half and then again after a goalmouth scramble in the first move of the second half.

Eleven minutes into the half Bluebirds went ahead on a tap-in by Linda Russell, but then Canaries' centre forward Samantha Adams came into her own.

Three minutes later Adams scored with with a fierce shot from the top of the circle following a penalty corner. And with time running out it was Adams again who received the ball in the circle before turning and firing an unstoppable winning goal.

On Sunday, Tracey McPhee secured the points for Cardinals B after only 19 seconds when she ran through an Orioles defence, seemingly unaware the game had started, and shot into the roof of the net. It proved to be the game's only goal.

The top of the table A division clash between Cardinals and Canaries turned out to be a lacklustre affair with both teams seemingly more concerned about not losing, rather than winning.

The first half produced few chances, and the deciding goal in the second half came when Emma Garon hammered a cross which Cardinals' keeper Gail Thorne failed to clear and Sarah Northcott was on hand to tuck the ball into the net.

Sunday saw Zita Bean return to Longtails' goal for the first time this season and she showed her international class, although still ended up on the losing side.

Orioles won only their second game this season, 2-1, thanks to goals from Joy Kelly and Zina Jones. Joanne Wilson replied for Longtails.

Orioles nearly paid the penalty for having 12 players on the pitch with two minutes remaining, but the resulting penalty corner failed to produce an equaliser.

This Saturday sees the annual Bacardi seven-a-side tournament at National Sports Club.
