Seminar on access cancelled
Organisers of a conference on the controversial issue of wheelchair access in Hamilton have explained why they had to postpone the event.
The Bermuda Chamber of Commerce sponsored the two-hour seminar at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess, which was due to take place yesterday morning. The trade body had to pull the plug because of ?lack of attendance from members?.
But Diane Gordon, executive vice president of the Chamber, said it would be rescheduled.
She added: ?We had to postpone because it seems like a lot of members were away. It?s now going to be in either October or November. We need to get together with the speakers and the rest of the members to decide a suitable date.?
She said wheelchair access in the city was a ?very, very important issue? and added: ?We are very committed to advising our members, not only for the benefit of our visitors, but also for the community so they have access from point A to B.?
