take overall honours as fitted dinghy racing resumed in Mangrove Bay on Sunday.

Bromby kept the White family's bright yellow boat in the breeze throughout the day, winning the first race and following home Elizabeth for second place in the next.

A wind of no more than eight knots kept competition interesting in the first race as no more than a few boat lengths separated the boats.

However, the wind dropped out later in the day, making the margins in the second race far more decisive.

Although the lead changed hands a number of times in the opener, it was Bromby's steady helmsmanship that prevailed as Port Royal was always in touch with the leaders.

Martin Siese in Challenger again had his moments, while Contest and Victory seemed to struggle the most in the light, difficult conditions.

The second half of the season has seen Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club's Elizabeth hitting her stride as she again shared Sunday's top places with Port Royal .

However, Elizabeth is now the only dinghy sailing out of the RHADC as Port Royal's strained relationship with the club ended a few weeks ago following a bitter dispute with the fitted dinghy race committee. She now sails out of Dockyard.

Elizabeth skipper Alan Powell will still be aiming to catch Port Royal in the race for Coronation Cup points, but a second place finish overall now seems a more realistic goal.
