CD&P named Who's Who Legal's Bermuda firm of the year

Conyers Dill & Pearman has been named Bermuda Firm of the Year 2009 for the fourth consecutive year at the Who's Who Legal Awards, which recognise leading firms in major jurisdictions around the world.

The awards follow thousands of nominations by clients, general counsel and private practice lawyers, which are reviewed over a comprehensive six-month interview process by Who's Who Legal in order to select one outstanding firm in each of 52 countries and five US states.

It follows the success of Conyers winning Offshore Law Firm of the Year at The Lawyer Awards 2009 held in London last month.

Who's Who Legal Editor in chief Callum Campbell said: "In a highly competitive field, receiving the Who's Who Legal Law Firm of the Year Award for Bermuda for a fourth time is an outstanding achievement.

"Conyers has won the award every year since its inception, and is among a select band of firms to achieve such a feat. The consistently positive feedback we received recognises its continuing and exceptional individual and collective talent in this jurisdiction, and we have no hesitation in once again declaring Conyers the leading firm in the country."

John Collis, chairman of Conyers, said: "We are pleased to receive this recognition and to be held in such high regard by our clients and peers. The award reflects our commitment to providing the highest quality legal advice to both local and international clients.

"We continue to lead the Bermuda market, and our global presence in major financial centres provides our clients with access to Bermuda and to the leading jurisdictions of the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and Mauritius.

Our ranking among top global firms by Who's Who Legal reaffirms our position as leading provider of offshore legal services."

Who's Who Legal lists the leading practitioners in each field, based exclusively on the findings of an independent six-month research process.

Partners from the firm received sufficient nominations from their clients and peers to be listed 16 times across 10 practice areas in the publication, with Conyers having more practitioners included than any other firm in Bermuda.

The past year has seen significant expansion across the firm, which has advised on a number of high profile deals and continues to consolidate its position in the Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and Mauritius.
