Centre in Hamilton could be just the place for you.

You can rent or buy such wholesome movies as "The Robe'', "Jesus of Nazareth'' and its sequel "A.D.'' And you can also purchase Bible Nintendo, which has moralistic games like David & Goliath, Noah's Ark and Save Baby Moses.

Violent Nintendo offerings such as Street Fighter and Streets of Rage are banned from the store, which is located on the fourth floor of the Dallas Building, next to Monte Carlo restaurant.

Music videos by singers like the Rev. P. Kee, known as The Prince of Gospel are also available.

And there's even a video on AIDS, purporting to tell the public "what you haven't been told''.

The Christian Resource Centre's majority shareholder and manager, Mr. Robin Smith, said his new business approach was in response to public demand.

"Christian parents are quite concerned about their children playing these other games which promote a lot of Satanic material,'' he said.

"And they are very concerned about their children being subjected to sex and violence on television.'' All of his store's video tapes, games and books are for "families and children'', he said.

Mr. Smith is a recent graduate from a Bible college in Canada, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in theology.

He is also a Bible teacher and is the Island's representative for the Texas-based International Correspondent Institute, which runs correspondence courses for lay people and Bible college level students.

"I used to work in a secular video store, which catered to a regular audience,'' said Mr. Smith. "Since then, I've given my heart to the Lord.'' He added: "This is a place where Christians can come and get good, wholesome material.

"It's a relatively new idea. It's certainly the first of its kind in Bermuda.'' Was he worried that his store might go the way of other video rental stores on the Island which have been forced out of business by cable television? "Not at all,'' he said. "Ask anyone in the Christian community and they will tell you there's nothing but garbage on television.

"I have cable myself and I'm ready to turn it off.'' Mr. Smith's partners in the Christian Resource Centre are Mr. Kenneth Symonds and Mr. Rupert Lyn.
