BCL jumps 25.6%
Bermuda stocks finished higher yesterday, driven by a huge jump in the share price of Bermuda Container Line Ltd. (BCL).
The freight shipping company climbed $2.45, or 25.6 percent, in Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) trading, to close on $12, as 5,000 shares traded.
BCL yesterday announced that its shareholders had voted to delist from the Bermuda Stock Exchange.
On an otherwise quiet day on the market, Butterfield Bank was the only other domestic stock to trade.
The bank fell five cents, or 1.2 percent, to close on $3.90, as 919 shares changed hands.
The Royal Gazette / BSX Index ended the day on 2,095.37, up 4.39 points, or 0.2 percent.
Volume was 5,919 shares and turnover was $63,615.
The BSX Insurance Index of the Island's leading international insurance companies fell 2.7 percent to 936.79.
