New and improved business directory rolls off the press
A new larger Bermuda Communications Directory for 2001 has just finished printing and will be arriving at businesses across the Island this week.
The publication, which lists over 95 percent of the companies on the Island, is a free publication with free subscriptions.
It lists a company's telephone, fax, cellular, physical and mailing addresses, e-mail and web site (if available) and has approximately 3,200 local and exempt businesses listed.
"This is a powerful tool for advertising and as a source for businesses,'' said Marsha Fraser, head of sales and marketing at the directory.
The directory, which has increased in size by almost 17 percent over last year to 316 pages, is a joint venture between Bermuda Press Ltd and Bermuda Directories Ltd and is in the third year of publication.
The cover this year is again a Roland Skinner roof-top shot, and the book is divided into colour-coded sections to make entries easy to find.
The directory is also listed on the web, at www.bermudabusiness.com, and contains links to businesses web-sites.
It also has a word-search which link to local and exempted companies.
The directory said in its release: "Traveling business people can download the daily-updated on-line information from their desktop use -- a handy space-saving concept when off the Island.
"It contains over 3,000 listings of Bermudian companies as well as hundreds of hyperlinks to e-mail and Internet addresses.'' The book will also be of assistance to people planning events such as weddings from abroad on Island, the company said.
The cost of publishing the glossy edition is covered by advertising in the listings.
The company distributes 11,000 editions of the book around the Island and are put in every hotel room in Bermuda as well as being sent to conferences for reference use.
