Court heard yesterday.

At 7.50 a.m. on Wednesday, Police found Sonny Norman Bell hiding behind a pile of boxes in a storage area at the Shopping Centre, Victoria Street. He told them he had broken in, eaten a bag of chips and drunk a soda.

Bell, 31, pleaded guilty to breaking and entering the store and stealing a can of soda, a bag of chips and a banana, together worth $2.25.

He also admitted an attempted break-in at a house on Fort Hamilton Drive on July 12.

Sgt. Rex Osborne, prosecuting, said Bell tried to get in to steal money but was foiled by locks. He told the court Bell committed the break-in while on licence from prison, and was now back in jail.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis gave him another 12 month sentence, to be served after his present four-year term was finished.
