A wedding day is supposed to be a day filled with warmth and love, not anger and disappointment.

But for Shelley Leverock and her new husband Shane, a shipping company losing his wedding band caused them to see stars.

The couple were married on Sunday, 10/10/10 at Horseshoe Bay at a ceremony filled with family and friends.

But problems began days before when the specially engraved ring that Mrs. Leverock bought for her husband turned up missing.

It said 'forever soul mates'.

She said: "It came on September 22 and they didn't notify us that it was misplaced. They scanned it in. They charged us duty and didn't deliver the ring.

"We started making phone calls and nobody said anything about it. They said they would look on the weekend. Monday rolled around and we're still waiting to hear something from somebody.

"I got ahold of the Chief Operating Officer. He was less than helpful. They said we can't help you."

Mrs. Leverock said she is upset because it's not as if the ring didn't arrive, it was scanned and signed for by someone who works for the company.

"Whoever scanned it in they had to sign in. ZipX said 20 people could have touched it. I said this is something that I ordered for my husband-to-be. They were pretty bad about the whole thing."

But ZipX Chief Operating Officer Shannon Burgess said the ring was scanned at the company's plant in New York and might not have made the trip to Bermuda.

"We do scan the packages but when these shipments are dropped off in New York, we're not going to sign for 300 packages. We sign for the truck. For FedEx and UPS, it's practical.

"We would sign every package but we trust them. We took possession, we processed it. We do customs work in New York and it's sent to Bermuda."

He continued: "We can go as far as creating a customs declaration form as long as we confirm it's on that day's flight. When it gets here, we marry them up.

"They are some questions to whether this was married up to the package. There was an arrival scan but we're not sure if it arrived in Bermuda."

Mr. Burgess said his team has thoroughly searched their warehouse and have not found the ring. He added they refunded Mrs. Leverock her money for duty and shipping.

"This has caused us to take a look at our procedures. We have never had this happen with an item like this.

"I trust my staff. I'm not going around accusing them of stealing the ring. We have done everything possible. I'm sorry this happened. I can't apologise enough."

As for the replacement ring, Mrs. Leverock said: "I called my sister who was coming down to my wedding. She ran down to a local store and bought a plain ring.

"They did say they were sorry to my husband. When I called they weren't apologetic at all. I was looking at it as they didn't offer an explanation. They didn't know who handled the ring. They just said it was lost. My husband said when he called they said they were going to put in new policies in place."

She continued: "I'm going to order a replacement ring and I'll never ship through ZipX again. No way."

The couple is off to Las Vegas today for their honeymoon.
