Cook brothers shine in old-school race day

Paul DeCouto

Several riders made their intentions known to their rivals after completing the 'double' in their respective classes on Sunday at the Bermuda Motorsports Park at Southside, St. David's.

On a day that was to showcase the old-school bikes of yesteryear, there were a handful of riders that were oblivious to the day's schedule of events and proceeded to stamp their authority on the racing.

John and Edward Cook, Amori Simmons, Chare Smith, Kenneth DeSilva and Shannon Caisey all won both races on the second race day of the season to send notice they are intending on making a serious charge in their respective class titles.

Simmons won both races in the Mini Bike Jr. class, while Chare Smith won both Mini Bike open races.

John Cook claimed both race victories in the Grand Prix (GP) 80 Class Race, while brother Edward won both Formula races.

DeSilva snatched top honours in the Scooter class, with Caisey holding off the likes of defending champion Paul DeCouto and Stephen Paynter to win both 600cc class races.

Shae Darrell won the first race in the (GP) 70 class but couldn't repeat the feat as Jazari Caisey won race two.

In the GP 125 class, Keanu Wilson won the first race with Andrew DeCosta claiming line honours in the second.

The next race day is scheduled for June 14.
