Police find Lovell file

The Bermuda Police Service conducted a further search of their computer records yesterday and have found the file on the accident which injured elderly Thelma Lovell on March 31.

Ms Lovell was frustrated that Police were unable to find anything about her accident last week.

She went to Police late last month to get the name of the taxi driver who knocked her down to be able to get compensation for $7,000 in hospital bills racked up over a month-long stay.

On March 31 Ms Lovell was knocked on Reid Street in front of the Rego Building, but when she attended the Police station last week an officer told her ?there is nothing in the system?.

Police and fire officials attended the accident but were unable to provide the name of the driver or details about the accident to by press time on Monday.

Yesterday afternoon, a Police spokesman issued a statement saying the record was ?not lost by the Bermuda Police Service? and that a ?full investigation took place and specific recommendations have been made?.

No explanation was given as to how two searches came up empty ? despite specific questions by .

The spokesman said computer records of cases go back to 1987, when the computer system was first introduced.
