LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Turn down the volume
July 26, 2008
Dear Sir,
The Jungle 2008 must have lost thousands of dollars since the sound system was so loud, no East End resident needed to buy a ticket to the concert.
My windows were rattling as the bass was so pumped up. I hope they will pay the medical bills for the hearing loss concert goers experienced.

Bring back old FM 89
July 27, 2008
Dear Sir,
Can someone at Bermuda Broadcasting please put FM 89 back to normal.
Since way back when it has been pop hits. When I want to listen to Everest or church or Portuguese, I know how to turn my radio to AM. I have nothing against those three things, I just don't want them on my favourite station.
Please, please, please put it back to Hits & Favourites all the time.

Keep golf course public
July 29, 2008
Dear Sir,
Great article on the handing over of a public golf course to the Park Hyatt people. So do you think the PLP dream voters have figured this out yet?
With all the spin and fancy words and since very few listen to Kim Swan, even when he says the right thing, I suspect that all the PLP sheep either won't listen, can't understand or otherwise have stuck their heads in the sand.
Coco Reef and all the property connected to it was built and developed with public funds. Now I realise no one came and actually took the money directly out of your pocket but be very sure...that was your money. It's now in private hands and benefiting......guess who?
The St. George golf course was built with your money ... they didn't get the money from bake sales, people. And if you think, despite what Michael Jones says it's 150 percent sure that it will remain public...well, maybe you'd entertain a bid for a bridge I know about?
Yeah, it'll be public.....from 4 p.m. until dark and no doubt at $200 a round!

Dear Sir,
I must congratulate MP Ashfield DeVent for having the guts to urge his colleagues to take seriously the Premier's plummeting poll ratings.
There are too many sitting PLP members of the House who have absolutely nothing to say concerning the excessive spending and leadership of this Government. I am especially surprised at the silence of the Finance Minister, Paula Cox who has stood by month after month and said nothing. As Finance Minister, where is her voice in all of this obscene spending?
Nothing is worse when people see where things are going wrong and say nothing. It gives the impression that either they are afraid to speak out – or, as long as it doesn't effect them personally they don't care – or, they are only concerned about the fat salary they are receiving by being a sitting member of "The Honourable House", therefore, they are selfishly protecting themselves by not rocking the gravy boat regardless of how unprincipled or immoral it is.
When a Premier's rating stands at only three-in-ten people in favour, that is pretty darn poor. The Premier is right up there with President Bush whom he visited recently, and Bush has the worst rating of any US President! As far as that meeting was concerned, the only thing that came out of that meeting with an outgoing, unpopular, low-rated President was that private jet passengers from Bermuda now receive pre-clearance to the US. This helps Bermudians tremendously! Wonderful! Oh, I almost forgot – Barbara Bush's knee surgery results and this is what the taxpayers paid for!
I had spoken to Minister Dale Butler a few weeks back, telling him some of the things people were concerned about, and what was being said in the street. Minister Butler informed me that he had not heard such, which means he has not been listening, or people are telling him what he wants to hear. Everywhere you go people are talking about the method of governing by Premier Brown, and some of the remarks are not nice.
If anyone has not read the letter to the Editor by Drummer Boy, then they need to because he said it all, and what Drummer Boy had to say, is what other people are saying. These people are PLP…UBP…Black…White and others!! The people are now speaking out against the leadership method of Dr. Brown and all of the shenanigans and cover-ups that have been going on.
One thing that really bothers me is that in the US, when someone in high office commits some wrongdoing, they are blasted all over the world. Look what happened to Bill Clinton with the Monica Lewinsky scandal. Was this covered up because he was President of the United States? Heck no! It was there for the entire world to see, including the cigar! So what makes this Government so special that one incident after another, be it GP1; a deeply imbedded splinter; the BHC scandal: Berkeley Institute; Coco Reef; Bermuda Cement Company; unanswered parliamentary questions; that we, the public, cannot know what the Government is doing?
This list is as long as my two arms, and I wish someone would take the time to itemise every questionable incident that has occurred since Dr. Brown became a Minister. I am only saying from that period because it would be too tedious to go back to the beginning of the PLP's reign and all of the indiscretions that went on back then.
But ladies and gentlemen, I do see a light at the end of the tunnel, and thanks to Phil Perinchief, it looks as if the chickens are coming home to roost. You know, people get tired after awhile. They get tired of being bamboozled – used – taken for granted – made fools of – lied to – having the wool pulled over their eyes. They start counting, and finally, they come the conclusion that two and two DOES make four and not five. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the time.
The PLP leadership needs to be changed for the survival of this Island's future. It can no longer be used to enrich a select few. In 1998 people voted for a change, but they did not vote for all of the "change" to go in the pockets of this selected few. This vampire type of leadership is sucking the blood out of Bermuda, and Bermudians, it is about time you see this Government for what it is all about. This Government is definitely not about you or me. It is all about themselves and we are only their stepping-stones to achieve their goals, which is to get as rich as they possibly can, as fast as they can.
I urge you to take back your country, as we do not need any Mini-Mugabes or Hideous Hitlers running the show here in Bermuda! These people are playing with our lives and our children's future! 21 square miles? Do we need this garbage?
