The 17-year-old was bailed in the sum of $500 plus a surety and told to reappear in court for mention on January 11.

MAN IN HOSPITAL FOLLOWING STABBING CRM Man in hospital following stabbing A stabbing at a private residence on Happy Valley Road, Pembroke, sent a 47-year-old Devonshire man to hospital earlier this week.

The incident occurred around 3.30 p.m. following an altercation with another man, Police said.

The cause of the incident is not known, but it is believed the attacker is known to the victim.

YOUTH ARRESTED FOR BREAKING INTO CLUB CRM Youth arrested for breaking into club Police have arrested a 15-year-old Devonshire youth for breaking into a Devonshire club.

Around 11 p.m. on Tuesday Police attended the reported break-in and found the youth inside the premises attempting to open the cigarette machine.

The case remains under investigation.

FINED FOR POSSESSING OFFENSIVE WEAPON CTS Fined for possessing offensive weapon Walking down the main road in Somerset with a Samurai sword cost a man $500 yesterday.

Myron Dill, 40, admitting possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, argued in Magistrates' Court that he only used the sword to trim hedges and for martial arts training.

But prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne presented a different story. According to the investigating officers, Dill was seen walking down Somerset Road about 9.50 p.m. on August 13 with the two-and-a-half-foot sword in hand.

He told Police "the fight'' was not with them, but with some youths who were stealing stuff from his yard, Sgt. Osborne said.

Dill told the Court the Police's case was "garbage'' and he had bought the sword on Court Street ten years ago for innocent purposes.

But Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis said his actions were clearly offensive. He fined him and ordered the weapon "held and destroyed''.

`MAD DOG' KNOWS HOW TO GROWL! CTS `Mad Dog' knows how to growl! A man who took his nickname too far and behaved offensively on Front Street was fined $200 in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Henry (Mad Dog) Tucker, 42, was seen walking out of a city nightclub at about 2 a.m. on December 18 shouting offensive words, prosecutor Sgt. Rex Osborne said.

Tucker, who pleaded guilty to the offence, told the court he was going to change his nickname to "pussycat'' but "my lady friends rather I growl than purr''.

He then started to verbally attack the nightclub's doorman for ousting him, but Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis ordered him to "take it easy'', warning him he could wind up being charged with contempt of court as well.
