Roads closed for Race Weekend

Police are asking the public to heed traffic directions along the race route starting at 7.30 a.m.

The race will begin on Front Street outside the No. 1 Shed and runners will travel east to the North Roundabout past East Broadway.

They will turn south on Trimingham Road and on reaching the South Roundabout, turn east, continuing till Devil's Hole Hill on South Road.

After crossing over Devil's Hole Hill, the runners will head west on Harrington Sound Road and reaching Flatt's Village, continue west on North Shore Road.

They will turn south at the junction with St. John's Road, then onto Pitt's Bay Road.

At Bermudiana Road, they will turn north onto Gorham Road, around a marker then back onto Bermudiana, heading south.

They then turn east on Front Street and finish the race outside the No. 1 Shed.

The following roads will be closed at the indicated times to assist road traffic control: Front Street between Burnaby Street and Parliament Street for eastbound traffic -- from 7.30 to 8.30 a.m.

Front Street from Queen Street to Parliament Street for westbound traffic -- from 7.30 to 9 a.m.

Front Street from Point Pleasant Road to Burnaby Street, for eastbound traffic -- 7.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Crow Lane between Spurling's Hill and North Roundabout, for southbound traffic -- 7.55 to 8.30 a.m. and Corkscrew Hill between Middle Road and Crow Lane, during those same times.

Trimingham Road from North Roundabout to South Roundabout, for southbound traffic -- 8 to 9 a.m.

Par-la-Ville Road between Church Street and Front Street -- 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Bermudiana Road from Front Street to Gorham Road near Rosebank Road -- from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Around 700 compeititors will take part in the International 10K Race and Charity Walk today.

The routes are identical, starting on Parson's Road, west of the Montpellier Road Roundabout.

The race will go east on Parson's Road, south on Montpellier Road and then east of Middle Road until Flatt's Village.

There, it will turn west along North Shore Road, then west onto Palmetto Road and south on Frog Lane to the south-gate of the National Sports Centre, where it will finish.

There will be no parking between the hours of 9 and 11 a.m. in the following locations: Parson's Road between Roberts Avenue and Montpelier Road, including grass verges.

Frog Lane between Palmetto Road and Parson's Road.

Montpelier Road between Parson's Road and Middle Road Gymnasium Road between Frog Lane and Fort Hill Road.

Flatt's Village between North Shore Road (Entrance to St. James Court) and Middle Road junction.

Fort Hill between Alexandra Road and Gymnasium Road.

There will be available parking on the grounds of CedarBridge Academy and in the area of the Police Compound via Fort Hill Road.

The following roads will be closed from 9.30 to 10.15 a.m., Parson's Road between Robert's Avenue and Montpelier Road Roundabout and Montpelier Road between Frog Lane and Middle Road.

From 9.30 to 11.30 a.m., the following roads will be closed: Frog Lane, between Palmetto and Parson's Road, and Montpelier Road between Frog Lane and Middle Road.

Middle Road/Corkscrew Hill to Middle Road/Verdmont Road will be closed to vehicular traffic in both directions from 9.55 to 10.15 a.m.

That route will be open once the Police vehicle carrying the `No Overtaking' sign has passed Verdmont Road.
