Two trucks collided on Palmetto Road near the Tynes Bay waste treatment facility shortly before 9 a.m. on Monday causing westbound traffic to be diverted along North Shore Road from the Barker?s Hill roundabout and eastbound traffic to be re-routed up Old Military Road.

One of the trucks involved was a Parks Department vehicle, believed to be heading west and the other truck was coming in the opposite direction.

A Police spokesman said the trucks had collided causing damage to the windscreen and bumper of one vehicle and the door, indicator and bumper of the other.

No-one was injured in the accident, which temporarily blocked both carriageways with one of the trucks ending up partially on the grass verge. Police attended the scene, pictured above, but the drivers agreed to settle the incident between them and no further action was taken.
