Handling nerves will be key to success
Robin Hood skipper Teddy Terceira is backing his side to come out of their first away game in the Premier Division with at least a point when they travel to Southampton Oval to face Southampton Rangers tomorrow.Hood got their first top flight campaign off to a winning start last weekend with a win over St David’s, and now begin a crucial phase of their season, beginning with Rangers.Tomorrow’s game starts a run of three fixtures that sees them play Dandy Town, champions North Village and Devonshire Cougars all in the month of October.Admitting his club’s opening day win was good for both the nerves and team morale, Terceira is now looking to come out of the next match with a positive result.“It was a good win last weekend, it was a bit nervy and with it being our first ever game in the Premier Division we just wanted to get it under our belt and get a result,” said Terceira. “We are glad to get off to a winning start, we think that we can keep a good record at home this year and we will look to get some points (away).“There will always be nerves at the beginning of every game, that is the reason why you play, to be the best you can be, so now that we have a game under our belt we will be ready and focussed on the taks at hand.“You should embrace the moment in every match, but we won’t be the only ones with nerves, every team should have a bit of nerves so it is down tot he side who settles quickly and get on top early.”Heading into unchartered territory is nothing new for the side, who have made a name for themselves in recent times. This will be a new experience for many of the team, with the captain reckoning that his side will likely play conterattacking football for much of the game.“On the road and a day game opposed to our opening night game will be a much different element, and obviously they are an established top flight club so we have to protect what we have at the beginning of the game, which is a draw and see if we can get the win as the game goes on.“The game may come down to counterattacking on our part and see where it goes from there.”Elsewhere tomorrow, leaders North Village travel to BAA Field to clash with Boulevard, while Somerset Trojans go to Devonshire Rec to play Devonshire Cougars. St George’s welcome Dandy Town to Wellington Oval, while PHC look to continue their winning ways when they go to Lords to lock horns with St David’s.
