A Devonshire man has been charged with assaulting a friend after a money dispute.

In Magistrates’ Court yesterday morning, Jordan Richardson, 20, of Christ Church Lane pleaded not guilty to assaulting Natiqua Darrell on June 22 in Southampton.

According to prosecutor Nicole Smith the two are friends and were talking about money that Ms Darrell had lent to Mr Richardson.

The conversation “made him mad and he pushed her over and punched her as she was getting up.”

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released the defendant on $2,000 bail with one surety. The trial is set for September 12 with a mention on August 22.
