Sticking it to us old folks

Now I feel like a step child! She's really gone and stuck it to us. For those of us over 65, we have been royally shafted by our Madam Minister of Finance's latest Budget! For a couple of years now, us seniors have enjoyed not having to pay land tax nor car licenses, but I guess someone saw us living “La Vida Loca” and enjoying living in the lap of luxury, by buying thinks like food, clothing and medication (not to mention those blue pills).Madam Premier, I know we are in a recession, and you have had a tough time at it what with trying to get us out of debt after all that money that was thrown around, like we were an oil nation, but did you really have to take it out on us poor old folks? In some countries, the seniors are revered and cherished, people who the young folks look up to or go to for advice and seek out our wisdom, but it seems to me that all that is being “seeked” from us is what little money we have to live on.I've done my part on cutting back. Now, when turning out the lights, it is for economic reasons rather than romantic ones (actually that's been going on for quite a while). I've made sure I don't waste any water either, because a dripping faucet causes uncontrollable bladder urge. But as soon as I save on one thing, I have to spend on another. I've been told by my Doctor that I need a new pacemaker as the one I have now makes the garage door open when I see a pretty girl, so that's more money!Madam Premier, if you hear the rattling of walkers and see the waving of canes, it will be us, the members of the Golden Oldies Club who have had just about enough of being taken for granted. Anyway at least now my cheating son has no reason to keep his gas guzzling SUV on my assessment number.Does something in the Budget make you grumpy?
