Kyle Lightbourne, Bermuda’s senior men’s head coach, has named his squad for the upcoming international friendly against Jamaica at the Catherine Hall Complex, St James, Montego Bay, on Wednesday.

With the match falling outside of the international break, meaning professional clubs will not be obligated to release their players, both sides were expected to be without a number of key players.

That has proved partially the case among the Bermuda squad with talisman Nahki Wells, of Bristol City, omitted, while the likes of overseas team mates such as goalkeeper Dale Eve, captain Dante Leverock, Justin Donawa and Milan Butterfield also missing.

However, Lightbourne has been boosted by the inclusion of a number of overseas professionals with the return to the national set up of striker Jonte Smith, of Cheltenham Town, along with Cambridge United’s Reggie Lambe and midfielder Willie Clemons, who plays his football in Sweden with Dalkurd.

Meanwhile, Michael Ricketts, the Jamaica Football Federation president, has already confirmed that their squad will comprise local-based players.

Jamaica are ranked 48th in the world, 120 positions above Bermuda in 168th. Bermuda lost 3-2 to Jamaica in Kingston in a Caribbean Cup qualifier in the previous meeting between the two nations in 1997.
