Outlaws lose first game of season

League leaders Fort Knox Panthers handed Outback Outlaws a first loss of the season during Wednesday night CellOne Elite City League basketball action at Somersfield Academy.Kevin Stephens led the Panthers to their fourth win of the season with a game high 21 points. Graham Robinson replied with 16 points for second placed Outlaws who were simply outgunned on the court.Panthers clawed their way to a 23-15 lead at the half.But Outlaws rallied in the second half, going on an early run to shave the deficit to a single point.But that proved to be the closest Outlaws would come to victory as Panthers closed the shutters and stayed beyond their rival’s reach the rest of the way.The match between Storm and Robin Hood Warriors was not played.CellOne Elite City League action continues May 29 at Somersfield Academy with Warriors facing Trinity Sound Lions and two-time defending champions Bluebirds doing battle with Storm. Action gets underway at 6.30pm.
