Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Patrice Minors has referred the docks dispute to the Labour Disputes Tribunal.Letters were sent yesterday to Stevedoring Services and the Bermuda Industrial Union with a request by the Minister for the “cooperation of those involved”.Said Ms Minors: “We are in the throes of the holiday season, one of the busiest times of the year for our economy and our businesses.“That said, I want to assure residents and businesses that we will be monitoring the situation very closely, and it is my hope that all parties can come to an agreement as swiftly as possible to ensure that there are no further adverse effects on our economy and trade.She called on both sides to ensure that business operates on the docks as normal as possible until the matter has been “satisfactorily resolved”.
