English Futsal coach on Island

English coach Graeme Dell will put local coaches through their paces for the next five days as the first ever official FIFA sponsored Futsal Course in Bermuda kicks off today at CedarBridge Academy.Dell is on the Island as part of a FIFA sponsored programme geared to promoting the smaller version of the global game.He comes with a wealth of coaching experience, having been employed as the England FA’s National Futsal coach from the very beginning when EFA’s Futsal Programme started in 2003. He led the England team in the 2004 UEFA Futsal Championships.He was also at the helm in England’s 51 international matches including the 2006 UEFA Championship and the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup, before stepping down in March, 2008.Thirty one local coaches representing BFA’s member clubs will participate in the course, with the opening ceremony taking place this morning at 10.00Futsal is a small-sided game made popular by the Brazilians. It is played indoors on flat, smooth and non-abrasive surfaces, preferably made of wood or artificial material.Teams are made up of five players, including a goalkeeper.
