Q: What is phishing (pronounced fishing)?A: Phishing is the act of send emails in an attempt to gain sensitive information from its recipients, such as passwords and bank account numbers. These emails generally look authentic, as is the intent of the senders and they use the information gained to defraud the recipients.Q: What do I do when I receive these sorts of emails?A: It is not common practice for any business to send its customers emails requesting sensitive information. You should never respond to these and immediately alert the company that these appear to be from i.e. your bank, Internet provider, etc. If by chance the email you received was a legitimate one, the company can confirm when you contact them.
