So much at stake

My family and I have enjoyed coming to Bermuda for many years. It has been sad to see the decline of Front Street commerce since the cruise ships have, for the most part, departed. As we read the article in the paper regarding the latest cruise ship departures from Dockyard, we wondered if there wasn’t something Bermuda could do to lure them back. As this loss would be a tremendous blow to the local economy, would it not make sense for the Premier to make a personal visit to people making the decisions at Carnival headquarters in the US? Bermuda needs to come up with a strategy to lure this business back and it’s going to have to come up with a plan that is both attractive to the cruise line as well as workable for Bermuda. Would it be so bad to allow gambling on the ship while it was in port? How about making Hamilton more accessible from Dockyard via some sort of special “cruise ship” ferry service.Bermuda must do whatever it takes to get this business back, too much is at stake and so many lives are directly impacted by the cruise ship business.SUSAN ACKERStamford, Connecticut
