Three-man race for Devonshire South Central
The Devonshire South Central by-election has today been officially declared a three-man race.Nomination Day saw three candidates head to Horticultural Hall in the Botanical Gardens to sign on the dotted line as Constituency 12 candidates.A by-election was called after long-time MP and former interim OBA leader John Barritt resigned from his parliamentary seat.OBA leader Craig Cannonier was first to officially put his name to the race at 11am. Sen Cannonier, who is required to hold a seat in the House of Assembly as Opposition leader, showed up with Mr Barritt.Next to turn up at about 11.30am was PLP candidate and former Accountant General Anthony Richardson, who was accompanied by Premier Paula Cox.Independent candidate David Sullivan, who is a former United Bermuda Party deputy chairman, then followed on his own at about midday.Voting takes place on Tuesday, November 1 just three days before the reopening of Parliament.
