Bradford keen on signing Wells
Trialist Nahki Wells has been handed a return to –English football by League Two side Bradford City, The Royal Gazette understands.A source close to the Bermuda footballer yesterday revealed he had been offered a contract by City boss Peter Jackson, although the former Dandy Town striker has not yet put pen to paper.The 21-year-old, who has spent three weeks on trial at City, scored twice against non-league Silsden last week and came on as a late substitute in Bradford's 3-2 win Guiseley on Wednesday night."I think they've offered him something but it just depends on whether he signs it or not," said the source.Jackson told City's website he had been impressed with Wells' performances during his trial with the club."We're trying to do something with Nahki. He's a young kid who has come in and offered us blistering pace."That's what I want in my squad."Last week Wells said he believed Bradford would be the ideal club for him to kick-start his career in the UK, having endured a frustrating spell at Carlisle United."Bradford would be a great move for me," Wells told the Gazette."They"re a big club with a great history. There's a good feel about the place and I think they could be challenging for promotion this season."Wells is available on a free transfer after being released by Carlisle at the end of last season. He made just three first team appearances during his five months at Brunton Park.The Bantams, a former Premier League club, have fallen on hard time in recent years with a series of financial pressures resulting in them slipping down to the bottom tier of English football.Bermuda international Reggie Lambe played 70 minutes for League Two team Southend United against Braintree United last night. Southend drew 1-1 with the non-league outfit.Free agent Lambe joined Southend on trial earlier this week, having already had tryouts at Bristol Rovers and Newport County.
