Operations at another island resort were today suspended for at least two weeks as residents were told to stay at home to stem the spread of Covid-19.The Coral Beach and Tennis Club in Paget is the latest in a string of hotels to close its doors.The club told members: “This decision has not been taken lightly, but we must prioritise the health and safety of our staff, our members and the wider population.“We will maintain our normal communications, to keep you informed and updated.“We hope that you are all staying safe and that we can return to normal operations as soon as possible.”The club added: “In accordance with the direction of the Government of Bermuda, and to prevent further spread of Covid-19 virus in our community, we have made the decision to suspend all club operations effective immediately for the next two weeks, through Monday, April 6, at which point we will re-evaluate the situation.“Please follow the advice of the Government and stay at home for the next couple of weeks.“All food and beverage, spa, tennis, gym and beach amenities will not be operational.”Nik Bhola, the Coral Beach general manager, said earlier this week that the resort’s room operations had “pretty much come to a halt” although at dining and beach services remained open.Coral Beach followed a string of resorts that wound up business on a temporary basis in the face of the Covid-19 threat.Cambridge Beaches in Sandys and the Hamilton Princess will close on a temporary basis tomorrow night and Elbow Beach in Paget and The Reefs in Southampton will shut from Sunday.The Grotto Bay Beach Resort planned to close this afternoon and the Rosedon Hotel in Pembroke suspended operations on Wednesday.
