At T. N. Tatem, our Family Centre programme provides a place where students can get together, have fun and workout for better fitness. There are two main people that are always here to support the school, Mr. Paul Harney and Mr. Gareth Dickinson.

They help out during school and after school and take students to WindReach or the Lorraine Rest Home to earn community service hours and provide fitness activities, too.

Paul and Gareth first started working for The Family Centre three years ago. They provide students with fun games at lunchtime and after school. They try to help students to look at why they act the way they do and to help them improve for the future by doing fun and exciting things. Before coming to Tatem, they had worked with children in a variety of settings including nursery schools, home schools and summer camps.

There are a few basic rules that the students must follow when participating in their activities.

The rules are no violence or bad language, to respect each other and to have fun. They frequently visit WindReach with Tatem students. They do this so that the students can gain their community service hours to satisfy the curriculum and to show the students the value of caring for the community.

When asked about working with students with disabilities, Mr. Harney said: "I have had the awesome privilege of working with children of all abilities for over fifteen years from Bermuda to Bolivia to Berlin. Each child is an individual and therefore a unique expression of God's love." Mr. Dixon has also worked in Bolivia for Habitat for Humanity.

Having Mr. Harney and Mr. Dixon at school has been a great experience for the entire T. N. Tatem family.
