Proud to be PRIDE
For the past several weeks the M4 class has been creating a documentary informing citizens about PRIDE Bermuda and what they do. The objective of the PRIDE documentary is to inform the general public about PRIDE.
PRIDE mainly helps educate the youth about drug and alcohol use and prevention. PRIDE's mission is "To educate and empower youth and adults in support of healthy lifestyles by implementing drug and alcohol prevention programs and activities in our community."
The task that the M4 class had to create is a documentary about PRIDE using interviews with the staff of PRIDE and student members of the PRIDE program.
During the creative process my colleagues and I worked roughly forty minutes a day, five days a week for several weeks. Once we started to create the documentary of PRIDE I felt that everyone in my class put the same amount of time and effort into the project.
The separate roles were interviewer, researcher, editor, producer and narrator photographers. All the work was spread out equally.
The interviewers produced a series of challenging questions and interviewing dates. The photographers were in charge of capturing the still life of PRIDE and their corporation.
They also contributed to the video picture as well. The researchers visited the PRIDE website and acquired valuable information about PRIDE.
This information was essential to create and complete the documentary process. The narrators provided support to other groups and created voice-overs that were needed in the editing process of the documentary.
The editors also had an essential role to play in creating the PRIDE documentary. The editors had to edit the interviews and generate the PRIDE documentary.
The producers also had a very important role. Their job was to take video and picture of the interviews and the staff.
My role was an interviewer, and I had to establish visiting times and create challenging questions. I also had to join my pupils by visiting the schools to interview people.
The PRIDE documentary project will influence the community in multiple ways. It gives reassurance to families that there is drug prevention help for school aged children.
PRIDE also informs the parents of Bermuda how drugs and alcohol can affect their children and their bodies.
During the making of the PRIDE documentary I learned a lot about drug usage and drug prevention. I was pleased to find out that there is an organisation that can help inform others of drug prevention.
My peers have told me that they were happy with all the new knowledge they attained during the making of this documentary.
