Breaking News: 24-year-old man shot

Police have launched an investigation after a 24-year-old man was shot in the hand.At about 1.15 a.m., the victim, from the Somerset, was travelling on a motorcycle on Scotts Hill Road, Sandys, when two men on a motorcycle travelling in the opposite direction shot at him.The victim sustained an injury to his right hand and was treated at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and later released. His injury is not considered serious.

A Police spokesman said: “Officers immediately set up vehicle check points and put legislated stop and search powers into effect in the search for the perpetrators. Information has already been provided by some members of the community, and detectives from the Serious Crime Unit are anxious to speak with anyone that may have heard, seen, or know anything about this incident.

“Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the unit on 299-8115, or via the confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda number 800-8477. Anonymous tips can also be sent via the Crime Stoppers Bermuda website, www.crimestoppers.bm. All information received via any process will be treated in confidence.”
