Woodlands Road project to last another month

Work to shore up the road edge along the Woodlands Road canal in Pembroke will begin on Monday.The project has been delayed while the Ministry of Works and Engineering awaited the arrival of water barriers to allow sections of the canal to be drained, according to permanent secretary Robert Horton.He said yesterday: "Portions of the canal have now been drained, with the result that construction of retaining walls on both sides of the canal is able to begin. The overall project is expected to last one month."

The road has been blocked off to motorists since it flooded during a heavy storm in February.
