North winds chill Island, but temperatures are set to rise
Temperatures are up to six degrees lower than normal as winds coming from Canada chill the Island.
However, according to the Bermuda Weather Service meteorologist Michelle Pitcher, the winds should ease and temperatures start to rise soon.
Since Tuesday, the Island has experienced highs of around 63 F (16 C) the average for this time of year is a high of 69 F (21 C).
Ms Pitcher said: "It was really windy on Tuesday because high pressure started to squeeze in helping to seal the cold weather in."
Yesterday the cold front began moving steadily east, and today is expected to bring slightly warmer weather and lighter winds. "It is still going to be pretty cloudy and pretty cool," she added.
The Reefs hotel decided to offer a promotion this winter to attract visitors during the cold winter months and according to Director of Rooms, David Dodwell Jr., if the weather falls below 68°F from January 2 through March 15, guests will automatically receive 20 percent off all beverages for the day.
"We thought it would be a fun way to attract people to The Reefs and get them to come to Bermuda for the winter," he said, adding it is something hotels around the Island used to do.
