Close race likely in St. David's at next election

St. David's has produced some tight races at General Elections, with neither the Progressive Labour Party nor the United Bermuda Party able to dominate at the polls.

At the last election in December 2007, PLP newcomer Lovitta Foggo beat Suzann Roberts-Holshouser of the UBP by 572 votes to 482. The east end island had the highest voter turnout in the Country, as well as the most newly registered voters.

The previous election was perilously close, with Mrs. Roberts-Holshouser taking the seat with a 399-384 victory over Danvers (Danny) Seymour of the PLP.

A further twist could be in store next time, with new party the Bermuda Democratic Alliance apparently targeting the marginal for a potential upset. BDA leader Craig Cannonier has roots in St. David's and is expected to challenge in Constituency Three.
