In the last election, former United Bermuda Party leader Grant Gibbons secured a comfortable victory in Paget East to keep his place in the House of Assembly.

Dr. Gibbons won 723 of the votes, beating Davida Morris of the Progressive Labour Party, who took 212 in the traditional UBP stronghold.

Long-serving MP Dr. Gibbons held the seat against Ms Morris, one of the Island's youngest senators ever.

There were four spoiled ballots with 939 voters taking part.

In the previous election Delaey Robinson stood for the PLP in Paget East. Mr. Robinson was retiring from his St. George's seat at the time. Dr. Gibbons enjoyed a landslide victory with 762 votes to Mr. Robinson's 183 in the 2003 General Election.
