Election date set for St. George
The Corporation of St. George has set a date for the election of the Mayor, Alderman and Common Councillors.
On Wednesday, December 2, the polls will open at 11 a.m. and close 8 p.m. in the St. George's Town Hall.
The Returning Officer, Robert Stanley Lewis will be present at St. George's Town Hall from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25, to receive nominations as well as the $250 deposit required from candidates.
Applications for nominations can be obtained from the Secretary of the Corporation at Storekeeper's House, on Ordnance Island, during the usual office hours of the Corporation.
According to current Mayor of St. George's Mariea Caisey the election was originally set for Wednesday, November 18 but was postponed to prepare for the Royal visit on November 24.
Ms. Caisey also added that she will be stepping down and putting her support behind the current deputy mayor, Kenny Bascome.
Only registered Municipality of St. George voters will be allowed to vote in the election and will require valid photo identification such as a passport, Bermuda driver's license, Parliamentary voter card, senior citizens card or special persons card.
