Police witness appeal over shooting
Police launched a fresh appeal yesterday for witnesses to Friday night's shooting, while the local MP moved to reassure residents.
A 22-year-old man from Pembroke was shot in the leg around midnight in the Middle Terrace area of that parish.
The man attended the hospital for treatment but was released a short time later.
Detectives are interested in speaking with anyone who may have been in the area between 11.45 p.m on Friday and 12:15 a.m. on Saturday and heard or saw anything suspicious.
The victim is at least the twentieth man to be injured by gunfire so far this year and seven have been killed.
Many of the incidents have been in the same Pembroke South East neighbourhood as Friday's shooting.
Area MP Michael Weeks said yesterday: "I'm working to try to make things safer. We've improved the lighting to make the residents feel safer in that area and we are looking at CCTV and some other initiatives."
Mr. Weeks was not aware of the identity of the injured man yesterday evening, and his name had not been released by the Police.
However, he said: "I just want to send my best wishes to this latest victim."
