The Reefs throws a party for taxi drivers

Driving force: The Reefs owner David Dodwell (centre) shows his appreciation for the Island's taxi drivers.

Taxis drivers and the role they play in Bermuda's tourism industry were recognised at a party laid on at The Reefs Club.

The first-ever Taxi Driver Appreciation Party, which was held at one of the hotel's new restaurants Royston's on August 19, attracted 80 drivers, who had the chance to learn about the new private residence club currently under construction and given a tour of the other new restaurant Ocean Echo.

They were also treated to a speech by David Dodwell, president of The Reefs, as well as receiving a black leather notepad with The Reefs logo on the front and being entered for a raffle prize of a dinner for two at either restaurant. Bermuda's taxi drivers are an important asset to our tourism community, acting as invaluable guides with their wealth of knowledge and friendly hospitality that they share with our visitors," said Mr. Dodwell. "We wanted to entertain them to express our gratitude for their dedication and service while also introducing them to our highly anticipated real estate offering at The Reefs Club."

"The Reefs put on quite an impressive party for us," said Irven Simmons, one of the taxi drivers in attendance. "Socialising with the other drivers was fun and something we don't often get to do."
