Teen swore at Magistrate
A teenager was thrown out of Magistrates' Court yesterday after swearing at the judge.
Andre Mark Anthony Martin, of North Shore Road, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to assaulting an officer, using threatening words and violently resisting arrest.
On Monday, officers were on duty on Victoria Street, Hamilton, when Martin walked in front of them and put his hands in his pockets and knocked one of the officers.
When the Police asked him what his problem was, Martin walked away he said: 'What the f***?'. According to Crown counsel Nicole R. Smith there were several children in the area at the time.
As the officer tried to arrest Martin for assaulting him, Martin resisted arrest and the Police used pepper spray to subdue him.
Yesterday, Martin argued that the Police bumped into him and when he put his arms behind his back six of them jumped him and then pepper-sprayed him in his mouth.
As Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner asked questions about Martin's explanation, however, the 18-year-old started sucking his teeth and refused to answer them.
Martin said: "You are saying stupid s*** to me now. I want to go up there and kick his a**."
At that point court officers escorted Martin out of the court room and Mr. Warner said he was too busy to sentence him.
Martin will appear in Magistrates' Court today for sentencing.
