LONDON (Bloomberg) - Nordic American Tanker Shipping Ltd. said second-quarter profit rose 70 percent on an increase in prices for hauling crude oil by sea.

Net income advanced to $35.5 million, or $1.10 a share, from $20.9 million, or 78 cents, a year earlier, Hamilton, Bermuda-based Nordic American said on Friday in a statement distributed by Hugin.

Rental revenue gained 43 percent to $63.2 million.
