Hamilton Mayor Charles Gosling has given his thanks to everyone involved in the New Year's Eve event on Front Street.

"On behalf of the Corporation of Hamilton members and managers, I want to thank everyone involved. "The success of the event was a result of the organisers working closely with our community partners, the Bermuda Police Service and the emergency response services, thereby showing that together we can create large scale city events that can take place without incident.

"Hundreds showed up to participate. My gratitude goes to Star Time Entertainment, 441 Productions, Spanish Town International, the performers, the Hamilton bars and restaurants who participated and of course, the sponsors who all contributed to the success of the night.

"It would be remiss of me if I didn't also acknowledge the patience of the motoring public who were inconvenienced as they travelled around Hamilton on Thursday afternoon when Front Street was closed mid-afternoon. I also appreciate the hard work of the Corporation of Hamilton staff members who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure Front Street was ready for, what I anticipate is, the first of many New Year's Eve events in the City."
