The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) has elected Michael Young as its new chairman.

At the meeting of the STEP Council on November 20, Mr. Young was unanimously elected to serve as chairman of the Society in 2009/10.

Mr. Young is a director within the private client department of solicitors, Thring Townsend Lee & Pembertons. Based in Bath, England he heads the trust and tax team.

Also at the meeting, his predecessor, Rosemary Marr, chairman from 2007 to 2009, was unanimously appointed a vice-president of the Society. Nick Jacob (STEP Central London) and Gavin St Pier (STEP Guernsey) were re-elected as deputy chairmen, and Larry Frostiak (STEP Winnipeg) as treasurer.

William Ahern (Asia and Australasia), Michael Dew (England and Wales) and Peter Economides (EUMAFINOR) also replace John Hart, Remi Aiyela and Antonia Marsaglia respectively.
