LONDON - Britain's top shares snapped a three-session losing streak, as hopes of strong jobs data from the US spurred sentiment, sending investors bargain hunting in commodity-linked stocks and banks. The FTSE 100 ended up 59.86 points, or 1.2 percent, at 5,211.18, closing at a two-week high.

EUROPE - European shares rose to a two-week closing high, as oil companies bounced, helped by a surge in the crude price, and growth in the euro zone services sector boosted investor sentiment. The pan-European FTSEurofirst 300 index of top shares rose 1.3 percent to end the day At 1,017.50 points, the highest close since May 18.

MILAN - The FT IT All Share index closed at 20109.03 points, up 291.09 or 1.47 percent.

TOKYO - Japan's Nikkei average surged three percent to a two-week high and had its biggest one day percentage gain in six months, with foreign investors tentatively re-entering the market and technical signs turning brighter. The Nikkei rose 3.24 percent or 310.95 points to 9,914.19.
