Johnson named college 'keeper of the week
Dandy Town shotstopper Daniel Johnson has been named National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men's Division III Goalkeeper of the Week after keeping clean sheets playing for Herkimer County Community College during the Generals' recent lopsided wins over rivals Broome Community College (5-0) and Clinton Comunity College (11-0).
The former Berkeley Institute student represented Bermuda during the 2002 Under-17 World Cup qualifiers and came up the youth ranks at North Village before joining nearby Hornets.
The Generals currently boast an overall record of 6-3 this season and have six NJCAA national titles and 19 consecutive regional titles to their credit.
Under legendary former coach Perry Nizzi, the Generals became a powerhouse after winning three NJCAA national titles in the mid-1990s and establishing a national collegiate record win streak of 97 games between 1994 and 1997.
Former General player Ryan Pierce currently plays for United Soccer League (USL) Division II side Harrisburg City Islanders and is also a past member of Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) outfit Baltimore Blast.
