Harbour Nights to feature high heel race

Runners are being asked to put away their sneakers and don heels for the most uncomfortable race of the year.

For the second year in a row, the Bermuda Hospitals Charitable Trust and the Bermuda Red Cross will be presenting a high heel race event on Front Street to raise money for charity.

Men and women will be required to wear three inch-heels or higher as they sprint or stumble the 100 yards between Makin' Waves and the flagpole.

For the first time there will also be a juniors race. Boys and girls aged 12 through 16 will participate in sneakers.

In addition to the race, the event will feature a runway walk-off featuring 15 public figures including senators Walton Brown and Thaao Dill, Bermuda Regiment Commanding Officer Colonel Brian Gonsalves, and Magistrate Juan Wolffe.

The race will be held at Harbour Nights next Wednesday. Events start at 7 p.m.

To make a donation or to sign up visit www.bhct.com, the Bermuda Red Cross, or the Pump it Up booth at Harbour Nights. Registration costs $30 until Monday and $40 after.
